Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is hosting the 2023 World Athletics Championships. The 19th World Athletics Championships, also known as Budapest 23, began on August 19 and will end on August 27. Hungary is hosting its first World Athletics Championships at this time.

The 2007 World Championships were ultimately held in Osaka after Budapest previously expressed interest in hosting them. Youhuu, a Racka, is the occasion’s official mascot. Javelin Throw DP’s other young star from India Manu finished third behind Julian Webber with his best throw of 81.31 meters. DP Unless nine other competitors throw better than Manu during qualification B, Manu also has a good chance of making it to the World Athletics Championships finals.

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra scripted history yet again as he became the first Indian to win a gold medal in the World Athletics Championships with a big throw of 88.17m in the men’s javelin final. In another first, three Indians finished in the top eight with Kishore Jena (84.77m) and DP Manu (84.14m) taking the fifth and sixth spots respectively. Never before did three Indians finish in the top eight of an event in the World Championships.

Neeraj Chopra at World Athletics Championships 2023

Heading into Budapest 23, Neeraj Chopra was already the first Indian track and field athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics (Tokyo 2020), the Diamond League title (2022) and the junior world championships (2016). World Athletics Championships 2023 Medals Tally

The United States is once again leading the medal standings in the Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championships. Last year, the US won the most gold medals at its own championships in Oregon, winning 13, to Ethiopia’s four.
