Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the highly anticipated UPSC Mains Result 2023 has been released on 8th December 2023 on the official website at upsc.gov.in. Union Public Service Commission conducted the UPSC CSE Mains examination 2023 from September 15, 2023, to September 24, 2023. After the UPSC Mains Result, 2023 is announced, qualified candidates will proceed to the next stage of the Civil Services Examination, which is the “Interview” round. The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) interview round is the final and crucial stage of the Civil Services Examination in India.

This interview, also known as the Personality Test, is an integral part of the UPSC selection process and plays a vital role in determining a candidate’s suitability for various administrative services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others.

The UPSC will soon release the Detailed Application Form (DAF-2) for those who qualify for the next stage. Qualified Candidates carefully review and submit the DAF-2 form with all necessary information to proceed further and are also advised to stay informed about the DAF-2 release and submission deadline to avoid any delays.

UPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2023

The UPSC Mains or CSE (Main) structure underwent a revision in 2015. By the updated format, UPSC Mains 2023 will consist of nine theory papers, all of which are essay-descriptive type. Among these, seven papers contribute to merit ranking. Additionally, candidates are required to select one optional subject for the UPSC Mains, details of which will be discussed later in this article.

The total marks for the UPSC Mains exam amount to 1750 (7 papers * 250 marks each). Each paper has a duration of three hours.

2. Paper B: English (Qualifying) – 300 Marks
