What is a Striped Hyena?

The Striped Hyena is a carnivorous mammal belonging to the Hyaenidae family. It is one of four living hyena species, the others being the Spotted Hyena, Brown Hyena and Aardwolf.

Unlike the more familiar spotted hyena, the striped hyena is generally smaller, more solitary and distinguished by prominent dark stripes on its body.
