India Exports GI-Tagged Dalle Chilly from Sikkim to Solomon Islands

Discover Dalle Chilly, a fiery and flavorful chili variety from Northeast India and Nepal, known for its intense heat, vibrant red color, and culinary significance.

Context: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has successfully exported 15,000 kg of GI-Tagged Dalle Chilly from Sikkim to the Solomon Islands.

About Dalle Chilly

Dalle Chilly, also known as Fire Ball Chilly or Dalle Khursani, is a highly pungent, bright red chili variety grown in Sikkim and the Eastern Himalayas.
It is famous for its intense spiciness, rich nutritional value, and unique flavor.
It has Rich nutritional value (Vitamins A, C, and E, along with potassium)
Its Scoville Heat Units (SHU) are 100,000 to 350,000, making it one of the spiciest chillies.
- SHU is a measurement of the pungency or “heat” of chilli peppers and other spicy foods.

GI Tag: Granted in 2020 by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Major Producing Regions: Sikkim, Also grown in parts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Arunachal Pradesh.
