National Space Day In India On August 23 Announced by PM

National Space Day: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, declared August 23 as National Space Day to commemorate the remarkable achievement of Chandrayaan-3‘s landing on the moon. “On August 23, India hoisted its flag on the Moon. He also announced that the spot where the lander landed on the Moon will be known as ‘Shivashakti’ and where Chandrayaan-2 touched down will be called ‘Tiranga Point’.

According to PM Modi, India will observe August 23 as “National Space Day” to commemorate the success of Chandrayaan-3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended ISRO scientists for inspiring a generation and creating a lasting impression on children’s brains while speaking to a group of ISRO scientists in Bengaluru.

At the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru, Karnataka, the Prime Minister was speaking to scientists. According to experts, India’s space sector would grow to $16 billion in a few years from $8 billion, said PM Modi.

With the successful landing of the Chandrayaan 3 mission on the moon, all eyes are on the next phase of the Moon mission i.e., the Chandrayaan-4 Mission or Lunar Polar Exploration Mission (Lupex), which will be jointly launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Tiranga Point on Moon

Prime Minister announced that the point where the Chandrayaan-2 lander left its footprint on the Moon would be known as “Tiranga Point”. The point where the Vikram lander touched down on the lunar surface would be named “Shiv Shakti”.

“The ‘Shivkshakti’ point (the location on the lunar South Pole where the ‘Vikram’ lander touched down) will encourage future generations to take up science seriously and use it for the welfare of people,” said the author. To commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan-3 lander, Prime Minister Modi announced that the spot of the landing of the Vikram lander will be known as ‘Shivshakti’.

The Prime Minister commended the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s accomplishments while paying a crucial visit to the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru. The designation of the Chandrayaan-3 moon lander landing location as the “Shiv Shakti Point” was one of the main attractions of this expedition. This name is not just symbolic; it also resonates with the depth of Indian philosophy and stands for resolve, strength, and the enormous connection that connects the Himalayas to Kanyakumari.

The Prime Minister added that India is positioned to be a key player in 21st-century global problem-solving to further emphasise the nation’s newly found confidence. India is poised to embark on a space exploration programme, and ISRO’s accomplishments, such as the difficult Chandrayaan-3 landing near the moon’s south pole, are testament of that.

PM Modi’s Visit to ISRO in Bengaluru

After returning from his two-nation tour of Greece and South Africa, PM Modi went to Bengaluru to congratulate the ISRO team on the successful touchdown of the Chandrayaan-3 lander on August 23. On Saturday morning, he was welcomed with open arms at the ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru.

The scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation who were a part of the trip were also introduced to him afterwards. From South Africa, PM Modi joined the ISRO team in virtually witnessing the historic Vikram lander’s Moon landing. He was there for the 15th BRICS Summit at the time.

ISRO Chairman S. Somanath personally greeted the Prime Minister. Warm hugs were exchanged as a form of greeting, more of a celebration of the successful conclusion of the challenging lunar landing mission. He additionally took a picture with the scientists working on the project. Later, S Somanath briefed PM Modi about ISRO’s 40-day trip to the lunar South Pole.

He claimed that Chandrayaan-2’s lunar footprint was left in 2019. He also acknowledged the contribution of ISRO’s female scientists to the achievement of India’s lunar mission.
