About Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary
Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1986. It is a distinctive hill formation of the Aravalli range of hills in India’s network of protected areas. It functions as a green lung and carbon sink for Delhi NCR and is also important for recharging groundwater.
- Location: On the Southern Delhi Ridge of the Aravalli range.
- It borders Delhi-Haryana, covering southern Delhi and northern parts of Faridabad and Gurugram districts in Haryana.
- It is part of the Sariska-Delhi Wildlife Corridor.
- Fauna: Golden Jackals, Striped Hyenas, Indian Crested Porcupines, Civets, Jungle Cats, Snakes, Monitor Lizards, Mongoose, etc.
- Flora:
- It features plants with xerophytic characteristics like thorns, wax-coated and succulent leaves.
- Prosopis juliflora and Diospyros montana cover a major area of it.
