Q) “What have been the key challenges in the India−Bangladesh relationship? Briefly outline the steps taken by India to overcome this. (15 marks, 250 words) 

भारत-बांग्लादेश संबंधों में प्रमुख चुनौतियाँ क्या रही हैं? इस पर काबू पाने के लिए भारत द्वारा उठाए गए कदमों का संक्षेप में वर्णन कीजिए।” 

Demand of the Question– The question demands understanding of history of India-Bangladesh relationship, issues in the relationship and the initiatives to improve the engagements.

Directive Word– What- It demands listing of the challenges. Briefly outline- It demands mentioning and giving a gist of the initiatives.

Structure of the Answer

Intro– Give an overview of India’s relationship with Bangladesh and recent engagement.

Body– Mention about the important issues that create challenges in India-Bangladesh relation. Provide important multi-dimensional aspects with respect to it as  India’s neighbor, World, South Asia,  and Indian Ocean Region. In the next part, state the importance of Bangladesh in India’s International Relation and link it with the next part. In the final part, mention the important engagements, and recent initiatives and future perspectives of it.

Conclusion– State the importance of Bangladesh in India’s International Relation profile, and mention how India can engage in a better way.

Q) “Discuss briefly the Indus Water Treaty dispute and suggest measures to potentially reduce tensions between India and Pakistan over water-related issues. (15 marks, 250 words) 

सिंधु जल संधि विवाद पर संक्षेप में चर्चा करें और पानी से संबंधित मुद्दों पर भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच तनाव को संभावित रूप से कम करने के उपाय सुझाएं। 

Demand of the Question– This question requires detailed understanding of Indus Water Treaty (IWT), its origin, provisions, and impact of it on Indo-Pakistan relations, especially on water-related issues.

Directive Word– Discuss briefly- This keyword demands mentioning about the issues, and covering its pros, cons and impact on relation, especially on water-related issues.

Structure of the Answer

Intro– Mention the origins of the IWT, and link with the Indo-Pakistan ties.

Body– In the first part, mention the provisions of IWT. Discuss about the pros of it with respect to Indo-Pakistan relation and also relating to water issues. In the second part, mention its shortcomings and link it to the last part. In the last part, mention and discuss suggestions, how these suggestions can help ease tensions with respect to water issues in particular and Indo-Pakistan relations in general.

Conclusion– State the importance and success of IWT, mention what can be done more to enhance its impact on betterment of water-related relations.

Q) What are the privileges enjoyed by the Members of Legislature in India? Do you think it is in contradiction with the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution? (15 marks, 250 words)

भारत में विधायिका के सदस्यों को क्या विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त हैं? क्या आपको लगता है कि यह भारतीय संविधान द्वारा प्रदत्त मौलिक अधिकारों के विपरीत है 

Demand of the Question– The question demands understanding of Working of the Legislatures and the privileges accorded to MLAs. It also requires understanding of Fundamental rights, along with comparison of both the rights.

Directive Word– What- This demands mentioning of privileges. Do you think- This keyword demands analysis of if contradiction is there or not, substantiated by articles, arguments and important SC judgements.

Structure of the Answer

Intro– Mention the articles under which privileges to MLAs are provided, along with the part of the Constitution where Fundamental Rights are described.

Body– Describe about the privileges, give required articles and important judgements. In the second section, mention the important Fundamental Rights that relate to privileges. In the last part, mention some provisions which contradict the Fundamental Rights, justify the need of providing such contradiction in the Constitution. Along with it, mention some provisions which do not contradict Fundamental Rights.

Conclusion– State the importance of the privileges provided. Along with some shortcomings, mention suggestive measures to decrease the contradictory provisions without affecting the actual and core functioning of MLA as legislative.
