India-Pakistan Ceasefire Announced with Full and Immediate Effect

In a dramatic turn of events in the wake of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the two countries have declared a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire in all sectors of the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB). The ceasefire agreement followed Operation Sindoor, a robust Indian military operation that was initiated in reaction to terror attacks in Jammu & Kashmir. The ceasefire is regarded as a significant diplomatic and strategic halt to avoid further regional escalation.

India-Pakistan Ceasefire Announced with Full and Immediate Effect

India and Pakistan have announced a complete and instantaneous ceasefire along the Line of Control and International Border after days of heavy cross-border shelling. The move comes after India’s Operation Sindoor, a military operation in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. Although tensions still prevail, the two countries have re-established military communications. Global leaders welcomed the decision, calling for peace. Civilian relief efforts are underway as the area tries to bring back normalcy and stability.

India Confirmed Ceasefire began at 5pm Local time

India’s foreign secretary Vikram Misri said:

The director general of military operations in Pakistan called the director general of military operations in India at 15:35, earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all fighting and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 17:00 Indian standard time today.

Reason for India-Pakistan Ceasefire

This follows an intense escalation in the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor and Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos in retaliation, involving allegations of missile attacks on airbases and other military establishments on both sides. The world had demanded the de-escalation immediately, with the G7 being at the forefront.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, also announced the ceasefire through a post on X (formerly Twitter), declaring that the deal took effect immediately and that Pakistan has always worked for regional peace without compromising its sovereignty.
