Legal Status of Recruitment

The selection process for the advertised posts will be subject to the final order of the Supreme Court of India in SLP(C) No. 19668/2022. The recruitment will also be subject to the final decision of the High Court in WPS No. 4723/2015 and WPS No. 1995/2017.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Applications are invited from Indian citizens and candidates belonging to categories recognised by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification

The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognised university.

The candidate must possess the required educational qualification and other eligibility certificates by the last date prescribed for online application. No certificate is required to be attached with the online application form.

Pay Scale

The post carries Pay Matrix Level 9, with the scale:

₹38,100 – ₹1,20,400

In addition to the above pay, dearness allowance and other allowances will be payable as per orders issued by the State Government from time to time.

Probation Period

Selected candidates will be appointed on probation for a period of 3 years.

Age Limit

The age of the candidate will be calculated as on 1 January 2026.

The candidate must not be below 21 years and must not be above 30 years.

However, for local residents of Chhattisgarh, the maximum age limit is relaxed. Considering the interest of educated unemployed candidates of Chhattisgarh, the State Government has provided a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit of 35 years. Therefore, the maximum age limit for local residents of Chhattisgarh will be 40 years.

Age Relaxation

The following age relaxations are mentioned in the notification:

  1. SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates of Chhattisgarh: 5 years relaxation.
  2. Permanent/temporary/work-charged/contingency-paid employees of the Chhattisgarh Government and employees of Chhattisgarh corporations/boards: maximum age limit of 38 years.
  3. Retrenched government servants: eligible for age deduction for previous temporary service, subject to conditions.
  4. Ex-servicemen of Chhattisgarh: defence service period may be deducted from age, subject to conditions.
  5. Women candidates who are local residents of Chhattisgarh: 10 years relaxation.
  6. Voluntary Home Guards and non-commissioned officers: relaxation equal to service period, subject to a maximum of 8 years, but age should not exceed 38 years.
  7. Widow, deserted and divorced women of Chhattisgarh: 5 years relaxation.
  8. Awarded inter-caste marriage beneficiaries: 5 years relaxation, subject to relevant rules.
  9. Certain award-winning sportspersons and youth awardees of Chhattisgarh: 5 years relaxation.
  10. Contractual appointees: relaxation equal to years of contractual service, subject to a maximum age of 38 years.
  11. Persons with disabilities: 5 years relaxation.
  12. Shiksha Karmi/Panchayat Karmi: relaxation equal to service period, subject to rules, and up to a maximum age of 45 years.

The notification further clarifies that all relaxations together shall not make the maximum age exceed 45 years. Reservation benefits and age relaxations will be available only to local residents of Chhattisgarh, wherever applicable.

All candidates must also pay the applicable portal fee and GST for online application.

For local residents of Chhattisgarh who appear in the examination/interview, the examination fee will be refunded to the account entered during the online application process. However, correction fee, portal fee, service tax, and other charges will not be refunded.

Correction Window

Candidates will get one opportunity for free correction after the last date of application.

Free Correction

The free correction window will remain open from:

22 July 2026, 12:00 noon to 24 July 2026, 11:59 PM

This correction can be done only once and only through online mode.

Paid Correction

After the free correction window ends, candidates will get a paid correction window from:

25 July 2026, 12:00 noon to 26 July 2026, 11:59 PM

The paid correction fee is ₹500. Paid correction can also be done only once and only through online mode.

During the paid correction window, candidates can correct only the following entries:

  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Category
  • Domicile/local resident status
  • Disability status
  • Ex-serviceman status

If a candidate changes the category from reserved to unreserved, the candidate must pay the difference in fee in addition to the correction fee. However, if an unreserved category application is changed to a reserved category, the fee difference will not be refunded.

No representation will be accepted after the paid correction window.

Selection Process

The selection process may be conducted either through interview only or through written examination and interview, depending on the number of applications received.

If the number of applications is high, candidates will be selected through:

Each question will have four options. Candidates must select only one correct or nearest correct answer.

The Commission may conduct the examination as a Computer-Based Test instead of a conventional examination, depending on the number of candidates.

Negative Marking

There will be negative marking in the written examination.

The formula mentioned in the notification is:

MO = M × R – 1/3 M × W

Where:

  • MO = Marks obtained by the candidate
  • M = Marks prescribed for one correct answer
  • R = Number of correct answers
  • W = Number of wrong answers

Marks will be calculated up to four decimal places.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

In the written examination, candidates must secure the following minimum marks:

Candidates who fail to secure the minimum qualifying marks will be declared ineligible.

There are no minimum qualifying marks for the interview if the selection is conducted through written examination and interview.

However, if the Commission decides to conduct selection directly through interview only, the interview will be of 100 marks. In that case, candidates must secure:

Number of Candidates Called for Interview

The number of candidates called for interview will be approximately three times the number of advertised vacancies. Only those candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission in the written examination will be eligible for the interview.

Final Selection

The final selection list will be prepared category-wise and in order of merit on the basis of the total marks obtained in the written examination and interview.

Documents Required Before Interview

Candidates are not required to attach certificates with the online application. However, before the interview, candidates must submit self-attested copies or copies attested by a gazetted officer along with the attestation form.

The required documents include:

  1. Proof of age, generally High School/Higher Secondary/Matriculation certificate or equivalent certificate.
  2. Mark sheets of all semesters/years related to the required educational qualification.
  3. Degree or certificate related to the required educational qualification.
  4. Registration, experience certificate or other documents, wherever required for the post.
  5. Caste certificate, if claiming reservation as SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer of Chhattisgarh.
  6. Income certificate for OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates, issued within the prescribed period.
  7. Disability certificate, if claiming PwD benefit.
  8. Ex-serviceman certificate, if applicable.
  9. Documents supporting age relaxation, wherever claimed.
  10. No Objection Certificate or related proof, if the candidate is already employed.

The candidate must possess all required qualifications and certificates by the last date of online application. Certificates issued after the last date of online application will not be accepted.

Caste Certificate Rules

Candidates who are local residents of Chhattisgarh and belong to SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer categories must produce a permanent caste certificate issued by the competent authority.

Married women candidates belonging to SC/ST categories must submit a caste certificate issued in their own name along with their father’s name. Otherwise, the caste certificate will not be accepted.

Candidates from outside Chhattisgarh who belong to SC/ST/OBC categories in their own states will be considered under the unreserved category for this recruitment.

OBC candidates of Chhattisgarh will get reservation benefit only if they belong to the Non-Creamy Layer. They must possess a valid income certificate issued within three years prior to the last date of interview.

No Objection Certificate

Candidates who are employed under the Chhattisgarh Government, Government of India, public sector undertakings, nationalised or non-nationalised banks, private institutions, universities, corporations or boards may apply online.

However, they should request their appointing authority or office head to send a No Objection Certificate directly to the Commission before or immediately after applying online. They should also keep the acknowledgement safely.

If called for interview, they must produce proof of having applied for the No Objection Certificate and the acknowledgement issued by the competent authority.

Disqualification Conditions

As per the notification, candidates may be disqualified in the following situations:

  1. A male candidate having more than one living wife.
  2. A female candidate who has married a person who already has a living wife.
  3. A candidate found medically unfit for the service/post.
  4. A candidate found unsuitable for the post after verification by the appointing authority.
  5. A candidate convicted of an offence against women.
  6. A candidate against whom cases involving offences related to molestation, rape or moral turpitude against girls or women are pending may have appointment withheld until final decision.
  7. A candidate who married before attaining the minimum legal age of marriage.

Criminal Prosecution and Misconduct

A candidate may be held liable for criminal prosecution and other action if found guilty of:

  1. Obtaining or attempting to obtain support for candidature by improper means.
  2. Impersonation.
  3. Getting impersonation done by another person.
  4. Producing forged or tampered documents.
  5. Giving false information or concealing material information at any stage.
  6. Using unfair or irregular means to gain entry into examination/interview.
  7. Using or attempting to use unfair means in the examination/interview.
  8. Harassing, threatening or physically harming examination/interview staff.
  9. Violating instructions mentioned in the admit card/call letter or instructions given by authorised officials.
  10. Misbehaving in the examination hall or interview.
  11. Violating the ban on mobile phones or communication devices inside the CGPSC premises or examination centre.

Such candidates may face cancellation of candidature, debarment from Commission examinations/selections, debarment from government employment, or disciplinary action if already in government service.

Objection and Evaluation Rules

There is no provision for re-counting or revaluation in the examination conducted by the Commission.

If a candidate finds any printing error, defective question, defective answer option or any other error in the question paper or answer options, the candidate must submit an online objection within the time prescribed by the Commission.

After disposal of objections and completion of the final selection process, the revised model answer will be published on the Commission’s website.

Travel Allowance

Travel expenses may be paid to fully unemployed local residents of Chhattisgarh belonging to SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer categories, subject to the applicable rules.

The travel allowance will be limited to ordinary class actual ticket fare and will be paid before the return journey by the examination centre or Commission.

Travel allowance will be payable only if:

  1. The candidate has the online travel expense bill issued by the Commission.
  2. The candidate is not employed in any government or non-government service.
  3. The candidate has no income from any other source.

If the examination is conducted, travel allowance will be paid for travel to the examination centre nearest to the candidate’s home district. If the candidate appears at an examination centre in another district despite the availability of a centre in the home district, travel allowance will not be payable.

Online Application Instructions

Candidates must apply online through the official website of CGPSC. The application link will remain active only during the prescribed dates.

For Previously Registered Candidates

Candidates already registered on the CGPSC online portal can apply using their login ID and password.

For First-time Applicants

First-time applicants must complete candidate registration by entering:

  • Name
  • Father’s name
  • Mother’s name
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Mobile number
  • Email ID
  • Identity proof number

After entering these details, candidates must generate OTP. OTPs will be sent to the registered mobile number and email ID. After entering the correct OTPs, candidates will receive a link on their mobile number for capturing a live photograph.

Live Photograph Instructions

Candidates must upload a live photograph using the mobile camera link provided by CGPSC. While capturing the photograph:

  1. The face must be clear.
  2. Both ears should be visible.
  3. Eyes should be open.
  4. The background should be light-coloured and plain.
  5. The face should cover approximately 80% of the captured image.
  6. Candidates can use the Re-Capture option if they want to retake the photograph.

After capturing a proper photograph, candidates must click on Verify & Upload.

Signature Upload Instructions

Candidates must sign on white paper using a black ballpoint pen. The signature must be scanned and uploaded as a JPG file of maximum size 100 KB. Only the signature should be scanned, not the blank background.

Payment and Final Submission

After completing the online form, candidates must pay the application fee and/or portal fee through available payment modes such as:

  • Credit Card
  • Debit Card
  • Internet Banking
  • UPI
  • Other available payment modes

After successful payment, candidates will receive the application receipt. Candidates must ensure that:

  • Application Status shows: Submitted
  • Payment Status shows: Paid

If this is not reflected, the application will not be accepted.

Candidates must keep the printout of the application acknowledgement and payment receipt until the completion of the selection process.

Admit Card and Interview Call Letter

Admit cards and interview call letters will be uploaded approximately 10 days before the examination/interview.

The admit card or call letter will not be sent personally to candidates. It will be available only on the official website of CGPSC.

Candidates must carry the admit card/call letter along with one original identity proof, such as:

  • Voter ID
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • PAN Card
  • Aadhaar Card
  • E-Aadhaar Card

Without the admit card/call letter and valid ID proof, candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre or interview room.

If the photograph or signature printed on the admit card/call letter is unclear or invalid, and the candidate fails to follow the instructions mentioned on the admit card, the centre head or verification officer may prevent the candidate from appearing in the examination/interview.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  1. Candidates must read the full notification carefully before applying.
  2. Eligibility will be checked by the Commission only after candidates are identified for written examination/interview.
  3. Issuance of admit card does not mean final acceptance of candidature.
  4. Applications will be accepted only through online mode.
  5. Manual or postal applications will not be accepted.
  6. Bank drafts or cheques will not be accepted for fee payment.
  7. Candidates must keep their registration ID, password, mobile number and email ID active until the completion of the selection process.
  8. All important information, amendments and updates will be published only on the CGPSC website.
  9. The Commission will not send separate individual information to candidates.
  10. Candidates are responsible for correctness of all details entered in the online application form.
  11. Applications printed and sent to CGPSC by post after online submission will not be accepted.
