About Phytorid Technology

  • Phytorid is a self-sustainable technology for wastewater treatment that works on the principle of natural wetlands.
  • It uses certain specific plants that can absorb nutrients directly from wastewater but do not require soil. These plants act as nutrient sinkers and removers.
  • It has been developed by CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur and has been patented in India and abroad.
  • It is a combination of the physical, chemical and biological processes which results in the ultimate treatment of the wastewater and the technology works without electricity, minimum maintenance, less manpower and importantly self-sustainable.
