Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 (2025): Dates, Highlights and New Initiatives

Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, the grand celebration of India’s ancient Tamil–Kashi civilisational bond, begins on 2 December 2025 under the inspiring theme “Let Us Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam”. For the first time, the focus shifts strongly to two-way Tamil language learning while completing a symbolic cultural journey from the banks of the Ganga in Varanasi to Rameswaram.

Organised under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative by the Ministry of Education, with IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as key knowledge partners, KTS 4.0 is set to be the most education-centric edition yet.

Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 – Key Details (2025)

• Start Date: 2 December 2025 (Varanasi)
• Grand Valedictory: January 2026 at Rameswaram (exact date TBA)
• Core Theme: “Let Us Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam”
• Delegates from Tamil Nadu: 1,400+ across 7 categories (students, teachers, artisans, farmers, writers, women, spiritual leaders)
• Highlight: First-ever large-scale Tamil teaching in Uttar Pradesh schools + study tours for 300 UP students to Tamil Nadu

Groundbreaking Language & Cultural Initiatives

1. Tamil Karkalam – Teaching Tamil in Varanasi
   • 50 trained Tamil teachers deployed in 50 schools across Varanasi
   • Duration: 2–15 December 2025
   • 1,500 Hindi-speaking students will learn basic spoken Tamil, pronunciation, and script
2. Tamil Karpom – 300 UP Students to Tamil Nadu
   • 10 batches of college students from the Kashi region
   • Intensive Tamil classes + heritage tours
   • Hosted by top institutes: IIT Madras (2 batches), Central University of Pondicherry, Gandhigram Rural Institute, Shastra University, and more
3. Sage Agastya Vehicle Expedition (SAVE)
   • Route: Tenkasi (“Dakshin Kashi”) → Varanasi
   • Dates: 2–10 December 2025
   • Retraces the legendary journey of Sage Agastya, showcasing millennia-old cultural links
