BSF Launches ‘Operation Alert’ Along Borders Ahead of Independence Day 2025

The Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified its security measures ahead of Independence Day 2025 by launching a high-intensity security drive called ‘Operation Alert’ along sensitive stretches of both the Indo–Pakistan and Indo–Bangladesh borders.

This large-scale security operation aims to prevent any possible infiltration, smuggling, or illegal activities during the high-alert period surrounding the Independence Day celebrations, while also strengthening border management through enhanced surveillance, drills, and coordination with state agencies.

On the western front, the BSF’s Rajasthan Frontier has been on high alert to counter possible threats from across the Indo–Pakistan border.

Speaking to ANI, BSF DIG Sector South, MK Negi, confirmed that the operation began on 11 August and will continue till midnight of 17 August. The main focus is on strict border management and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that the force remains fully prepared for any challenges.

Key Measures Taken:

• Intensified foot and vehicle patrols along sensitive border areas.

• Continuous monitoring of intelligence inputs from across the border.

• Deployment of advanced surveillance gadgets for real-time activity tracking.

On the eastern front, the BSF Meghalaya Frontier has launched a similar high-alert security operation along the Indo–Bangladesh border.

According to the BSF, the primary objective is to ensure airtight border security through intensified surveillance and joint efforts with the state police and other law enforcement agencies.

Key Measures Taken:

• Additional deployment of personnel to vulnerable forward posts.

• Senior officers from Frontier and Sector Headquarters stationed on the ground to oversee the operation directly.

• 24/7 patrols, including riverine monitoring in high-risk areas.

• Surprise checkpoints and mobile patrol units to cover both land and river routes.

• Use of night vision gear for enhanced night surveillance.

• Specific focus on preventing cattle smuggling, illegal crossings, and movement of contraband.

Inspector General O.P. Upadhyay, stationed at the border, highlighted that the operation reflects BSF’s unwavering dedication to national security, especially during the Independence Day period when threats from hostile elements tend to rise.
