The Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026, held on February 12–13 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in India’s journey toward integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its educational framework. Organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with IIT Madras, the event brought together over 3,100 participants, including policymakers, educators, technologists, and students, to discuss and showcase AI’s transformative potential in education.

Launch of the Bodhan AI Centre of Excellence

Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Bodhan AI Centre of Excellence at IIT Madras, emphasizing the government’s commitment to developing ethical, inclusive, and scalable AI solutions tailored for India’s diverse educational needs. This center aims to spearhead research and deployment of AI technologies that align with the National Education Policy 2020, focusing on competency-based learning and multilingual education.

Introduction of the Bharat EduAI Stack

A cornerstone of the conclave was the unveiling of the Bharat EduAI Stack—an open, interoperable digital infrastructure designed to support AI-powered learning solutions across the nation. This initiative seeks to bridge educational disparities by providing adaptive learning tools, personalized feedback systems, and AI-assisted assessments, ensuring equitable access to quality education.

Embracing the SAFE AI Framework

Minister of State for Education Shri Sukanta Majumdar introduced the SAFE AI framework, encapsulating principles of being Secure, Accountable, Fair, and Empowering. This framework underscores the importance of deploying AI technologies that are transparent, equitable, and designed to empower both educators and learners, fostering an environment of trust and inclusivity.

Collaborative Endeavors and Partnerships

The conclave witnessed the formation of strategic partnerships aimed at bolstering AI integration in education. Notable collaborations included:

• A Memorandum of Understanding between IIT Bombay and Columbia University to establish a Centre of AI for Manufacturing at IIT Bombay.

• The launch of the AI Programme at IIM Lucknow.

• Initiatives like “Teaching with AI” by IIM Ranchi and collaborations involving IIM Jammu and AIT Bangkok.

These alliances signify a concerted effort to enhance AI research and its practical applications in the educational sector.

Technical Sessions and Exhibitions

The two-day event featured technical sessions focusing on:

• Governance Platforms & Scalable AI Systems.

• Multilingual AI, Teacher Empowerment & Practice-Led Learning.

These sessions highlighted the shift from traditional monitoring to intervention-based governance using AI-enabled platforms, emphasizing the need for integrated systems that support real-time decision-making.

An exhibition showcased over 120 AI-driven innovations, providing a platform for startups and institutions to demonstrate their solutions aimed at enhancing classroom learning, teacher support systems, and governance frameworks.
