Ajaya Babu Wins Silver After Thrilling 79kg Final

Valluri Ajaya Babu produced one of India’s finest performances in weightlifting by winning the silver medal in the Men’s 79kg category.

The Andhra Pradesh weightlifter lifted 330kg (149kg Snatch + 181kg Clean & Jerk), finishing just 1kg behind Malaysia’s Erry Hidayat Muhammad, who claimed gold with a Games-record total of 331kg.

National record holder Sarvesh Kushare scripted history by winning the silver medal in the Men’s High Jump.

He cleared 2.25 metres on his final attempt before narrowly missing 2.28 metres.
