Arun Kumar appointed DG of Directorate General of Civil Aviation

Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Arun Kumar as new full-time Director General (DG) of aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary. He will succeed B S Bhullar. Kumar is IAS officer of 1989 batch of Haryana cadre. Prior to this appointment he was serving as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation

About Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

It is regulatory body for civil aviation in India. It functions under t aegis of Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. It is headquartered in New Delhi.

Mandate: To promote Safe and efficient Air Transportation through regulation and proactive safety oversight system in India. Enforce civil air regulations, air safety and airworthiness standards in India as per International standards. Investigate aviation accidents and incidents.
