Swiss-based NRI scientist Dr Rajendra Joshi was awarded with Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award.
He was honoured for his outstanding achievement in the field of Science and in recognition of his valuable contribution in promoting prestige and honour of India and in fostering interests of overseas Indians.
Dr Joshi through his Rajendra and Ursula Joshi Group (RUJ) group has committed investments in excess of Rs 1000 crore in the areas including healthcare, education and skill development and Swiss precision technology in India.
Justice (Retd.) DK Jain, who is newly appointed ombudsman for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was also be appointed as its ad-hoc Ethics Officer.
As Ethics Officer, he will look into matters of conflict of interest involving players, coaches and officials.
He has been appointed as per Rule 39(1) of the new BCCI Constitution which states, that Ethics Officer will be appointed by BCCI at its Annual General Meeting for purpose of guidance and resolution in instances of conflict of interest.
Ethics Officer will be retired Judge of High Court. His/Her term will be one year, subject to maximum of three terms in office.
