Senior IFS officer Jaideep Sarkar was appointed as next High Commissioner of India to South Africa. He will succeed Ruchi Ghanashyam.
He is 1987-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as India’s ambassador in Bhutan,
In his diplomatic career, he had served in many different Indian missions in Tokyo, Seoul and Bangladesh. He also served in Finance Ministry from 1992-1996 with key responsibility to deal with economic relations with EU member countries.
In 2004, he was appointed as Director in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), where he had dealt with number of ministries including MEA, Finance and Planning.
