On November 21, 2022, at Swami Vivekanand Auditorium in Daman, the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Government of India, and National Fisheries Development Board celebrated "World Fisheries Day."

Objective of World Fisheries Day

The purpose of World Fisheries Day is to encourage fishermen and women. The fishing industry employs a huge number of people, and any harm to fisheries directly impacts their means of subsistence.

The World Fisheries Consortium Forum (WFF) was created in 1997 WFF and the same year World Fisheries Day start to celebrate.
